Vinyl records are analog sound storage mediums, typically 12-inch or 7-inch discs made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), featuring spiral grooves that reproduce audio when played on a turntable. Valued for a “warm” sound, high dynamic range, and physical, tactile experience, they were the dominant music format from the 1950s to the 1980s.
